Bolivia/ Amazonia
Took my daughter Elizabeth to see the Amazon Jungle after we left Peru.
On the right of the map you see Tambopata and Heath River. We flew in to Puerto Maldonado from Cusco, Peru.
The trip took us from Puerto Maldonado, up the Madre De Dias River ( Mother of God River) and into Bolivia and the Amazon jungle.
Heading down the Rio Madre De Dias (Mother of God River) to the Manu Cultural Zone in Bolivia towards the Heath River.

We saw capybaras!
Magnificent trees— but it now reminds me of the redwoods in California!!

Here is the floating hide.
Above is a short video of Elizabeth and I inside what’s called a floating hide! We arrived on The Heath River at 5am before the wild parrots arrive at the clay lick. So called because the birds come to eat the clay to neutralize the toxins from the food and nuts that they eat! I read also that they may eat the clay to supplement the sodium deficient diet that they have.
This is what we came to see—- wild McCaws.
