Florida to Oregon Road Trip Mobil, Alabama—reminds me a lot of New Orleans. I went through Amarillo, Texas just so I could go to Cadillac Ranch. I saw pics of these cars stuck into the sand when I was a kid and promised myself one day to actually go there. This pic is what I first saw from the roadside. This was so exciting for me to experience. View fullsize Lots of graffiti. View fullsize Next up….. New Mexico. Here I can finally get to see historic Route 66! The old Rt 66.—- Tucumcari, N Mexico. Lots of Wind Farms. This one is Wildorado also on Rt 66. On the border of Arizona and Utah are the sandstone buttes that make this area so beautiful. It is Monument Valley! I had to at least drive through Vegas just to say I had been there. Not my kind of place. The Shoe TreeIn Doyle, California I came across this strange looking tree! So I pulled over to take a look and it was full of pairs of shoes! I since discovered that the tree is famous but has been chopped down. Apparently kids would come and hang out around the tree and fling pairs of shoes up around the branches. Finally I’m in Oregon just to be welcomed with a bush fire. Passing a 3 Trailer Truck in Oregon— this was the first time I ever saw 3 trailers together!
