Zimbabwe ( Rhodesia )
Zimbabwe was called Rhodesia when I was there. The British South African Company named Rhodesia after Cecil Rhodes.
When I was there Ian Smith, who declared UDI from Great Britain in 1965, to become labeled a Traitor of the British Empire, was in negotiations with Robert Mugabe, Joshua Nkomo and Bishop Muzorewa. Smith got some of his terms agreed to with Muzorewa but not Nkomo and Mugabe. The rival guerrilla movements of Nkomo and Mugabe continued to fight whilst the rest of the world refused to recognize Ian Smiths government. Smith eventually came to an agreement with the UK government and stepped aside in 1979. He started to put his memoirs together whilst Mugabe spent his years as President raping the country of much of its’ wealth.
